Background music
Background music is the instrumental track that plays underneath your video, separate from your narration voice. WideCast keeps its whole music library in one place inside the scene editor, and whatever track you choose plays under the entire video, not just a single scene. This topic covers the BG Music tab itself; for your speaking voice or AI avatar, see Avatar and voice.
Open the BG Music tab
Open your video in the scene editor (see Scene editor basics if this is your first time there). Click the gear icon to open project settings, then choose the "BG Music" tab. It opens straight into "Choose Background Music", showing a checkbox labeled "Music", your current track's name, a play button to preview it, and a "Change" button.
Browse and preview the library
Press "Change" to open the "Background Music" list. WideCast's library is one consistent style, with every track tagged "Corporate • Professional", and it holds close to 40 instrumental tracks to choose from. Press the play button next to any track to hear it before deciding; press it again, or let the clip finish, to stop. Nothing changes in your video until you actually apply a track.
Apply, switch, or remove music
Press "Use This" on a track to make it your video's music. The button changes to "Active", your project saves the choice, and every scene's preview updates right away. Come back and press "Change" again any time to switch to a different track the same way. To remove music entirely, uncheck the "Music" box in the "BG Music" tab, or open "Change" and press "Use This" on the "No Music" entry at the top of the list. Background music is entirely optional, so it is fine to leave a video without any.
One track for the whole video
Background music is a single choice for the entire project, not a per-scene setting. Whatever you apply, including "No Music", carries across every scene at once, and previewing, applying, or switching tracks never costs any credits.
Common questions
Where do I find the background music picker in the scene editor?
Open your video in the scene editor and click the gear icon to open project settings. Choose the "BG Music" tab and it opens on "Choose Background Music", showing your current track's name, a checkbox to turn music on or off, a play button to preview it, and a "Change" button to pick a different track from the library.
What music categories are there?
WideCast's music library is one consistent style, tagged "Corporate • Professional" on every track in the list, rather than separate genres you can filter between. Open "Change" in the "BG Music" tab to see the full "Background Music" list; within that style you get close to 40 instrumental tracks to preview and choose from.
How do I preview a music track before using it?
Open the gear icon's "BG Music" tab and press "Change" to open the "Background Music" list. Every track has its own play button; press it to hear a preview, and press it again, or let the clip finish, to stop. Previewing does not change anything in your video, your track is only applied once you press "Use This".
How do I apply or switch to a different music track?
Open the "BG Music" tab, press "Change" to open the "Background Music" list, preview tracks with their play buttons, then press "Use This" on the one you want. That track becomes your video's music, the button changes to "Active", and every scene's preview updates right away. To switch again later, repeat the same steps and press "Use This" on a different track.
How do I remove music from my video?
Open the gear icon's "BG Music" tab and uncheck the box next to "Music"; your video switches to "No Music" right away, with nothing else to confirm. You can also press "Change" to open the "Background Music" list, scroll to the "No Music" entry at the top, and press "Use This" on it. Background music is entirely optional, so it is fine to leave a video without any.
Will I hear the background music when I preview a scene in the editor?
Yes. As soon as you apply a track with "Use This", WideCast updates every scene's live preview to include it, so playing any scene lets you hear your narration and the background music together. You do not need to export the video first to check how the music sounds.
Does the music cover the whole video or just one scene?
The whole video. Background music in WideCast is one setting for the entire project, not something you pick scene by scene. Choosing a track, or choosing "No Music", updates every scene's preview at once. See Scene editor basics for how the BG Music tab fits alongside the rest of the project settings.
Can I upload my own music track?
Not right now. The "Background Music" list only offers tracks from WideCast's own library; there is no button to upload an MP3 or other audio file of your own. Choose the closest match from the library, or turn music off with "No Music" if none of the available tracks fit.
Does adding background music use any credits?
No. Previewing, applying, switching, or removing background music does not use any credits. Open the "Background Music" list and try as many tracks as you like before settling on one.
